Configuring the network simulator

The network simulator provides the ability to simulate network loss and test how HP Velocity-

protected flows respond to varying rates of loss in the network. Ta b l e 24 describes the

configurable network simulator parameters for packet loss.

NOTE: LiveTCP policy filters are also configurable by selecting LiveTCP

under Policy Filters.

Configuration option Description

Latency Threshold Set the latency threshold in milliseconds. Latency mitigation is activated

once this threshold is exceeded.

The default setting is 20 ms.

Congestion Control Apply the degree of congestion control required.

• Aggressive: Handles the effects of a high-latency network. Aggressive is

the default setting.

• TCP Friendly: Uses the standard TCP-like congestion control algorithm.
