Figure 25 (page 78) shows an example of an XP Continuous Access Journal secondary data

volume that is also functioning as an XP Business Copy P-VOL. This configuration allows you

to use XP Business Copy to provide multiple backup copies of a single XP Continuous Access

Journal primary data volume.

Caution: When you share an XP Continuous Access Journal secondary data volume with an XP

Business Copy P-VOL as shown in Figure 25 (page 78), the write operation to the XP Continuous

Access Journal primary data volume takes time. In particular, when the XP Business Copy pair is

in PSUS(SP) status, the write operation to the XP Continuous Access Journal primary data volume

may take extra time because of the time for the copy process on the XP Business Copy pair.

Note that if the journal volume size is small, the XP Continuous Access Journal pair may be

suspended due to a failure because of the shortage of the capacity of its journal volume.

Access Journal primary data volume and XP Business Copy P-VOL, and XP Continuous Access

Journal secondary data volume and XP Business Copy P-VOL

Figure 26 (page 79) combines the configurations shown in Figure 24 (page 78) and

Figure 25 (page 78). Within a single XP Continuous Access Journal pair, the primary data

volume and secondary data volume are both functioning as XP Business Copy P-VOLs, providing

multiple copies at the primary and remote sites.
