
Dealing with a Boot Failure
If your usual boot device (typically a disk) isnot responding as itshould. you must
attempt to boot from the disk (or another boot device) by selecting it manually.
To boot a device manually, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the power to the workstation, wait a few seconds. then turnthe pow-
er back on.

20 Press Esc .
In a few seconds, thismessage appears:
Terminating selection process.
A short time later, this message appears:
Searching for potential boot devices.
To terminate search,
press and hold the ESCAPE key.
Device Selection Device Path Device Type and Utilities
Your workstation isnow searching for devices that may hold file systems
from which it can boot HP–UX. As they are found, they appear in a list,
similar to the following sample list:
