Note: Specify a port in SLPR 0 when you use LUN Manager to define an LU path to a data volume.
It is possible, but not recommended, that you specify a port in another SLPR when you define an

Table 12 (page 46) below explains the emulation types and the capacity of volumes that can form
pairs. For details on the maximum number of pairs, see “Maximum Number of Pairs” (page 47).

XP Continuous Access Journal supports the LUN Expansion (LUSE) feature, which allows you to
configure a LUSE volume by using 2 to 36 sequential LDEVs. If two LUSE volumes are assigned to
an XP Continuous Access Journal pair, the capacity and configuration of the secondary data volume
must be the same as the primary data volume. For example, when the primary data volume is a
LUSE volume in which 1 GB, 2 GB, and 3 GB volumes are combined in this order, the secondary
data volume must be a LUSE volume in which 1 GB, 2 GB, and 3 GB volumes are combined in
this order. In addition, RAID1, RAID5, and RAID6 can coexist in the LUSE volume.
XP Continuous Access Journal also supports the Virtual LVI/LUN (CVS) feature, which allows you
to configure custom-size LUs that are smaller than standard-size LUs. When custom-size LUs are
assigned to an XP Continuous Access Journal pair, the secondary data volume must have the same
capacity as the primary data volume. The emulation types and capacities of the master and restore
journal volumes that can be used for an XP Continuous Access Journal software are shown in
Table 13 (page 46).
