Another sign of a problem occurs when attempting to Add Licenses Now, a failure screen appears

indicating no licenses were added.

Here are some steps that can be followed to attempt to rersolve these licensing issues:

1. Security Manager requires the proper startup of these 3 services.

Flexera Licensing Service

HP Print License Service

HP JetAdvantage Security Manager

You may need to stop and restart these services. Stop them in this order:

HP JetAdvantage Security Manager

HP Print License Service

Flexera Licensing Service

Restart them in the reverse order

Flexera Licensing Service

HP Print License Service

HP JetAdvantage Security Manager

Now launch the UI.

2. The licensing process in Security Manager is handled by two services: Flexera and HP Print

License service. The latter relies on the former working. There may be cases where the

Flexera service can’t start because of reduced permissions on the service account it is

using. Windows Event Viewer may indicate the service cannot start because of reduced

permissions. By default the Flexera service runs under the Local Service account. If

permissions are reduced on this account and cannot be increased, try running the service

under another account with more permissions.

3. If both services are running and issues still arise, there may be residuals from a previous

install, such as trying to add evaluation licenses on top of previous evaluation

licenses. Installing permanent licenses when evaluation licenses are present and not expired

is usually OK, but attempting to install evaluation licenses when existing evaluation licenses

haven’t expired can cause issues as evaluation licenses are not meant to be stacked. In this

case, the following options should be considered:

a. Uninstall Security Manager, make sure the uninstaller removes licenses, then reinstall

and add licenses. The uninstaller asks if you want to delete the database also, and

you can choose not to do so if it is desired to maintain all the devices, policies, and

remediation data from the previous install. When you re-install Security Manager,

just point to the existing database and install the licenses.
