6.4 INTEGERATION WITH HP OPEN VIEW
Web ViewPoint can be configured to send out SNMP traps as notifications to HP OpenView Operations. Web
ViewPoint’s PC Component sends out SNMP traps to different SNMP receivers. For HP OpenView Operations on
HP-UX or UNIX, the Web ViewPoint’s MIB can be used by HP OpenView Operations to interpret the SNMP message
sent by Web ViewPoint.
Identification for WVP traps is 1.3.6.1.4.1.169.3.257.n The 257 identifies the WVP subsystem.

The requirement for WVP Plug-in for OVO Unix/Windows has been made obsolete. MIBs specified above can be
used to display the information in OVO. The corresponding MIB file – WVPMIB - can be found in the Web
ViewPoint installation subvolume on the NonStop.
The remainder of the section talks about using the WVP Plug-in for OVO. It has been retained for backward
compatibility.
Alternatively the interpretation can be done by using the Web ViewPoint Smart Plug-in which uses opcmsg to send
out message to HP Open View. For HP Open View Operations, the Smart Plug-in must be used to receive SNMP
traps from Web ViewPoint. The Smart Plug-in installation files can be found in the “WS_SW\WVP Plug-in for OVO
Unix” and “WS_SW\WVP Plug-in for OVO Windows” folders.
INSTALLATION WVP PLUG-IN FOR OVO UNIX:
FTP the wvp5aah.tar.gz file from the "WVP Plug-in for OVO Unix" folder to the HP-UX / Solaris box running HP
OpenView Operations.
Unzip the file by using gunzip. [Command: gunzip wvp5aah.tar.gz].
Extract the contents of wvp5aah.tar [Command: tar -xvf wvp5aah.tar].
