78 SAN Environments Chapter 4

Installation and Configuration

This section explains how to install and configure the HP Surestore Interface

Manager within HP SAN backup solutions. Basic knowledge about installing

and configuring tape libraries, Host Bus Adapters (HBAs), and software in a

non-SAN configuration is required.

This section’s instructions are based on the following example configuration:

■ HP-UX server with two HBAs

■ Windows NT server with one HBA

■ 8-port HP Brocade Fibre Channel switch

■ HP 20/700 tape library with 2 DLT8000 drives

■ Fibre Channel Interface Manager

Note Each actual installation should be verified against the guidelines

of HP supported SAN Backup Solutions. See Table 5 on page 20

for a list of supported products. Contact your HP representative

for the most recent information.
