If you are collecting performance data for the firsttimeonthearray, ittakeslongerthanusualfor
PA XP to get the data. Subsequent performance data collection on the array is as per the time
specified in the Frequency text box.
NOTE:
To ensure optimal performance and results, the maximum number of LDEVs for data
collection is 6000. This is the total number of LDEVs across all arrays that are visible to a
particular host agent. You can decrease the total number of LDEVs visible to a host agent,
by restricting the LDEVs that visible to the host. You can increase the maximum number
of LDEVs visible to a host agent, by increasing the number of LDEVs that are visible to
the host. For inf ormation on increasing the number of LDEVs that ar e visible to the Host
Agent, see For the management station.
Stopping performance data collection
The Data Collection Configuration screen allows you to specify whether or not you want to collect
performance data. To stop collecting performance d ata on a command device, complete the following
steps:
1. Select a row in the list box to highlight the command device(s) that you want to stop collecting
data on.
2. Select Collect Performance Data.
3. Select Stop Data Collection.
4. Click Submit . Performance data collection on the command device stops.
Increasin g the maximum number of LDEVs
To ensure optimal performance and results, the maximum number of LDEVs for data collection is restricted
to 6000. To increase the m a ximum number of LDEVs to 16000, increase the amount of memory given
to the J VM when you start the host agent and managem ent station services. You can do this for the
management station and the host station.
For the ma nagement station
To increase the maximum number of LDEVs for the mana gem ent station, complete the following steps:
1. Open the file: HPSS\pa\tomcat\conf\wrapper.properties
2. Editthelastlineofthefollowingfile from:
wrapper.cmd_line=$(wrapper.javabin) -Dhpss.home.dir= $(hpss_home)
-Xmx384m -Xrs -classpath $(wrapper.class_path)$(wrapper.startup_class)
-config $(wrapper.server_xml -home $(wrapper.tomcat_home)
to
wrapper.cmd_line=$(wrapper.javabin) -Dhpss.home.dir= $(hpss_home)
-Xms256M -Xmx512M -Xrs -classpath $(wrapper.class_path)
$(wrapper.startup_class) -config $(wrapper.server_xml -home
$(wrapper.tomcat_home)
For the host agent on UNIX/Linux hosts
To increase the maximum number of LD EVs for the host agent on a UNIX or Linux host, comp lete the
following steps:
1. Open the file: /opt/sanmgr/hostagent/sbin/HA_trigger
2. Edit the following line from:
