Figure 17 shows an example of a Continuous Access XP Journal secondary data volume that also

functions as a Business Copy XP P-VOL. You can use this conﬁguration to use Business Copy XP to

provide multiple backup copies of a single Continuous Access XP Journal primary data volume.

CAUTION:

When you share a Continuous Access XP Journal secondary data volume with a Business Copy XP

P-VOL as shown in Figure 17, the write operation to the Continuous Access XP Journal primary data

volume takes time. Especially, when the Business Copy XP pair is in PSUS(SP) status, the write

operation to the Continuous Access XP Journal primary data volume may take extra time for the

copying process to the Business Copy XP pair. In addition, note that if the journal volume size is

small, the Continuous Access XP Journal pair may be suspended by failure because of the limited

capacity of its journal volume.

Figure 18 combines the conﬁgurations shown in Figure 16 and Figure 17. Within a single Continuous

Access XP Journal pair, the primary and secondary data volumes function as Business Copy XP

P-VOLs, providing multiple copies at the primary and remote sites.
