Nomadic Disk Configuration File

•

The order of statements is not important, except:

An ADD statement depends on preceding SET statements.

An ADD statement implicitly resets all preceding SET statements.

CONFIG^FILE

CONFIG^FILE is a TACL variable containing the name of a Nomadic Disk configuration

file:

•

If the variable CONFIG^FILE exists when you start the Manager and it is not blank,

the Manager assumes the variable contains a file name and attempts to open and

interpret that file.

•

If the variable CONFIG^FILE does not exist or if it is blank, then the default

configuration file is used. The default configuration file is

$SYSTEM.NOMADIC.NDCONFIG; however, this file name can be changed.

To change the default CONFIG^FILE, refer to Example 3-1, Sample TACLCSTM File

Included with the Nomadic Disk Manager, on page 3-4.

Configuration File Examples

The following are example NDCONFIG files for a basic configuration for each of the

two nodes participating in a ServerNet Nomadic Disk configuration. For detailed

descriptions of all configuration statements, see Nomadic Disk Manager Configuration

Statements on page 3-8.

In a normal state, the node \TELE is the primary node and owns the Nomadic volumes

and \OMS1 is the backup node. Each node contains:

•

An I/O enclosure equipped with 16 internal 46xx disk drives.

•

One switch module containing two switch cards and two RS-232 ports. One port of

the switch module is connected to the primary node and the other port is

connected to the backup node. The switch module devices are named $SM01.#A

and $SM02.#A. Each node has both a $SM01.#A and $SM02.#A device; they are

configured as local devices, even though one of the switch modules resides at the

remote site.

Switch module device \TELE.$SM01.#A refers to one of the ports on the switch

module that resides at the \TELE site; \TELE.$SM02.#A refers to one of the

ports on the switch module that resides at the \OMS1 site.

Switch module device \OMS1.$SM01.#A refers to the second port on the

switch module that resides at the \TELE site; \OMS1.$SM02.#A refers to the

second port on the switch module that resides at the \OMS1 site.
