Figure 16 N-to-1 Remote-Copy Configuration
In an N-to-1 remote-copy configuration:
All of the remote-copy pairs can be bidirectional.
You can use RCIP, RCFC, or FCIP connections with N-to-1 remote-copy configurations.
For a 2:1 configuration using RCIP, the target requires a minimum of two nodes.
For a 3:1 or 4:1 configuration using RCIP, the target requires four nodes.
If you are using FCIP or RCFC, the target requires two nodes for every source node replicating
to it. In a two-node storage system, a 4-to-1 configuration is possible, where the target is a
two-node array, provided that the target system is appropriately configured for the workload.
The backup system in the N-to-1 configuration must use only the following controller nodes:
HP 3PAR StoreServ 10000 Storage
HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 Storage
HP 3PAR T-Class Storage
HP 3PAR F-Class Storage
You can use either synchronous or asynchronous periodic mode remote-copy volume groups
with N-to-1 remote-copy configurations. Both the synchronous mode and the asynchronous
periodic mode can be used at the same time between different remote-copy pairs.
1-to-N Remote-Copy Considerations
1-to-N remote-copy configurations consist of one primary storage system that replicates data to up
to four other storage systems. Figure 17 (page 45) shows a configuration with one primary storage
system which has bidirectional replication with System2 and unidirectional replication to System3.
