For non-HP FutureSmart devices, the Sleep Delay (Minutes) conguration will continue to be
supported.
11. For HP LaserJet Pro, HP Ocejet Pro, and HP FutureSmart devices that use a UPI and have a rmware
version earlier than 23.2.1 installed, WS Discovery must be enabled.
If WS Discovery is disabled on HP LaserJet Pro and HP Ocejet Pro devices, HP Web Jetadmin uses the
correct UPI and displays a status of Device Communication Error for these devices after a device
discovery or a full refresh is performed.
If WS Discovery is disabled on HP FutureSmart devices, HP Web Jetadmin uses a generic device model
instead of the correct UPI after a device discovery or full refresh is performed.
A device refresh does not change the device status. Solution: If a device has a status of Device
Communication Error or a generic plug-in is used, the device remains in that status after a refresh is
performed. To display the device correctly, enable WS Discovery on the device, delete the device from
HP Web Jetadmin, and then rediscover the device.
12. HP Web Jetadmin does not display all of the solutions that are installed on HP FutureSmart devices on
the Solutions tab, although all of the solutions are displayed on the General tab in the device
HP Embedded Web Server.
Workaround: Most solutions are used with a Home screen application. To display the installed solutions
for HP FutureSmart devices, users can create an automatic group with lters for the solution's Home
screen application. For example, the following is the lter for a Home screen application called NSE
Scanner:
AnyItem([Home Screen Applications.All Apps], [EQ(\[Item.Application
Title\], \[NSE SCANNER\])])
13. For HP FutureSmart devices that have been in deep sleep mode (1 Watt mode), HP Web Jetadmin might
display them with a Device Communication Error status.
Solution: Disable Sleep mode or upgrade the rmware to HP FutureSmart Bundle 3.2 or later.
14. In cases where users were using HP Web Jetadmin 10.3 SR3 with HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP ow M830
and HP LaserJet Enterprise M806 devices, these devices have a Device Communication Error status
after upgrading to HP Web Jetadmin 10.3 SR4 or later.
Solution: To correctly map the UPI to the HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP ow M830 and HP LaserJet
Enterprise M806 devices and re-establish communication, delete the devices and rediscover them.
Background information: Note the following information about the HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP ow
M830 and HP LaserJet Enterprise M806 devices:
●
In HP Web Jetadmin 10.3 SR3, these devices use the discrete plug-in.
●
In HP Web Jetadmin 10.3 SR4 and later, these devices use the Universal Plug-in (UPI).
●
When the HP Web Jetadmin service restarts after upgrading from HP Web Jetadmin 10.3 SR3 to
HP Web Jetadmin 10.3 SR4, the plug-ins are remapped.
●
Because these devices no longer have discrete plug-in support after the upgrade, they only have
HP generic plug-in support, which results in a Device Communication Error status.
15. When the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) policy is enabled on the server hosting
HP Web Jetadmin, all of the discovered devices are displayed with a status of Device Communication
Error.
