Part 3 Checkout Procedures
This part consists of two sections:
• The first section provides hardware checkout procedures for the Model 400t
and 400dl systems.
• The second section provides hardware checkout procedures for the Model 400s
system.
4.11 Checkout Procedures for Model 400t and 400dl Systems
This section provides checkout procedures for the following Model 400t and 400dl
system components:
• Power supply and related FRUs (Procedure 4-5)
• Winchester disk power (Procedure 4-6)
• Calendar battery (Procedure 4-7)
WARNING: These procedures involve the verification of high-voltage
components. They should be performed by qualified service
personnel only.
CAUTION: Make sure that you are properly grounded before you attempt
any of the following procedures. Use an antistatic mat with
static straps and other static prevention devices whenever
possible.
You must remove the system unit cover to perform the following procedures. Refer to
Figure 4-17, which illustrates the system unit cover removal. Figure 4-18 shows the
power connections, which are referenced in the procedures that follow.
NOTICE: Always replace the system unit cover during troubleshooting
sessions if the system is to run for an extended period of time.
The system unit cover is used to maintain proper air flow cool-
ing within the system unit.
NOTICE: To maintain FCC/EMI compliance, verify that the covers are
properly seated when closing the system unit.
