hostname <name>

Creates a name used to identify the unit. This alphanumeric string should be used as a unique description

for the unit. This string will be displayed in all prompts.

Syntax Description

<name> Alphanumeric string up to 32 characters used to identify the unit

Default Values

<name> Router

Command Modes

(config)# Global Configuration Mode required

Usage Examples

The following example creates a hostname for the Secure Router OS device of ATL_RTR to identify the

system as the Atlanta router:

(config)#hostname ATL_RTR
