Procedure 4-1 details instructions on performing a hardware upgrade.
Procedure 4-1
To perform the hardware upgrade
1 Shut down the Meridian MAX software, then ensure that the power to
the IPE module is turned off.
Refer to the “Meridian MAX power-down procedure” chapter for
instructions on how to shut down the Meridian MAX software.
2 Remove the Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E module from the Option 11 or
Option 21
–81.
Move the latches at the top and bottom of the module to the unlatched
position. Slowly slide the module along the slots and remove it from the
cabinet.
3 Lay the module on its side with the outside of the disk drive card facing
up, as in Figure 4-17, and the faceplate of the Option 11 Meridian MAX
IPE/IPE-E module facing you.
4 Remove the SCSI terminator from the faceplate of the Meridian MAX
IPE/IPE-E.
5 Using a small Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the six screws located on
the outside of the disk drive card as shown in Figure 4-17.
These screws are indicated by arrows printed on the disk drive card.
Set the screws and flat washers aside.
6 Hold the disk drive card by the edges. Push the disk drive card away
from the faceplate, then lift it up and away.
7 To separate the disk drive card from the CPU card, disconnect the
SCSI I/O cable from the CPU card at connector J14, as shown in
Figure 4-16.
Pull open the ejectors at either end of the SCSI cable plug on the CPU
card and lift the connector out of the plug.
8 Disconnect the power cable from the CPU card at connector J5, as
shown in Figure 4-16.
9 Turn the CPU card over and remove the Option 11 bracing support, as
shown in Figure 4-16.
This bracing support sits inside the module between the CPU and disk
drive cards. Hold the support with one hand while removing the screw
from the CPU board with the other.
10 Remove the six screws and flat washers securing the CPU card to the
Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E module frame, as shown in Figure 4-16.
