Option 11
When connecting to Option 11, ensure that the Option 11 system is
equipped with either a TDS/DTR two-port serial I/O card (NTAK03BA)
and a connecting two-port serial cable (NTAK19AA), or an SDI/DCH
four-port serial I/O card (NTAK02AA) and a connecting four-port serial
cable (NTAK02BA). They are used to interface both the HSL and LML
between the Option 11 and the Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E four-port I/O
cable. For a direct connection, the distance between the serial cable used by
Option 11 and the four-port I/O cable used by the Meridian MAX
IPE/IPE-E must not exceed 15 meters (50 feet). Otherwise, limited distance
modems must be used.
Option 21–81
Because there are several different SDI packs that can be connected to the
Meridian MAX IPE-E High-Speed Link, detailed configuration instructions
for the SDI packs are required.
The HSL is implemented by connecting the NT1R03BA cable (Port 8) on
the Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E to a supported SDI pack on the Meridian 1.
The following SDI packs are supported: QPC139, QPC841, and NT8D41.
Each type of SDI pack requires a specific HSL cable which then connects
to the NT1R03BA cable (Port 8). Detailed instructions for configuring the
HSL connections are provided below.
The Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E HSL port does not require configuration
because it is preconfigured as a DCE port. Consequently, all SDI ports must
be configured as DTE ports in order for the two ports to communicate.
The QPC139 Serial Data Interface (SDI) operates as a DTE device. Set the
QPC139’s Output Device to Modem. The Port 1 jumper plug is set to
location A13. The Port 2 jumper plug is set to location A25. Refer to SL-1
Circuit Card Installation and Testing (NTP 553-3001-211) for more
information.
