11 Pull the CPU card away from the faceplate and lift.

The Option 21

–81 Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E module frame is identical in

construction to the Option 11 module frame except that it is wider. The

screw holes in the Option 21

–81 module frame are in the same

locations as the Option 11 module frame.

12 Place the CPU card against the Option 21–81 module frame, making

sure the edge of the card is securely against the faceplate.

Make sure to line up the ABORT and RESET switches with the

corresponding cutouts in the Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E module frame.

13 Replace the six screws and flat washers, reattaching the CPU card to

the Option 21–81 Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E module frame as shown in

Figure 4-16.

14 Insert the Option 21

–81 bracing support shown in Figure 4-16.

This bracing support sits inside the module between the CPU and disk

drive cards. Hold the support with one hand while inserting the screw

into the CPU board with the other.

15 Turn the CPU card and frame over, and reconnect the disk drive card to

the CPU card by connecting the power cable to the CPU card at

connector J5, as shown in Figure 4-16.

16 Connect the disk drive card’s SCSI I/O cable to the CPU card at

connector J14, as shown in Figure 4-16. Make sure the SCSI plug’s key

bumps are lined up correctly and that the latches are closed.

17 With the faceplate of the Option 21-81 Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E module

facing you, hold the disk drive card by the edges. Close the module by

lifting the disk drive card towards you and pulling it towards you until it

is securely against the faceplate.

18 Reattach the disk drive card to the Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E frame

using the six original screws and flat washers, as shown in Figure 4-17.

These screw holes are indicated by arrows printed on the disk drive

card.

19 Reattach the SCSI terminator to the SCSI port. Make sure the

terminator is firmly in place.

20 Insert the upgraded Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E module into the Option 11

or Option 21

–81.

Slowly slide the module along the slots into the cabinet, making sure

the latches at the top and bottom of the module are in an unlatched

position, until it is firmly in place. Make sure the latches at the top and

bottom of the module are secured.

21 Power on the Meridian MAX IPE/IPE-E module.
