Configuring the U.S. Robotics 28.8 Sportster modem for network link
1 Configure the modem switch setting as shown in Figure 5-55.
2 Set the workstation speed to 9600 baud.
3 Connect the workstation to the modem with a straight-through cable
(NT1R03Dx or NT1R03Ex).
4 Connect the workstation and the modem to their power sources.
Ensure that the modem is connected to the telephone system with an
RJ-11 cable/connector.
5 Power up the workstation and the modem.
6 At the workstation keyboard, enter AT&F followed by {RETURN}.
The system responds with
OK
7 Enter AT*B1 followed by {RETURN}.
OK
8 Enter AT&Z1=T####### followed by {RETURN}.
The ####### must be replaced with the correct telephone number for
the Meridian MAX node.
OK
9 Enter ATE0 followed by {RETURN}.
OK
