3-8 Hardware installation: Application Module (SNN/SNN-E)
553-4001-111 Standard 1.0 March 1997
Single board computer cards
MVME167-34 and MVME177-005
The 32 Mbyte, 33 MHz MVME167-34 single board computer (SBC) card
is the central processing unit of the Meridian MAX SNN system, based on
the MC68040 microprocessor.
The 64 Mbyte, 50 MHz MVME177-005 SBC card is the central processing
unit of the Meridian MAX SNN-E system, based on the MC68060 CPU.
Eight light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and two buttons appear on the front of
the MVME167-34 card or MVME177-005 card. The label on the card,
however, appears as “MVME 167-34A” or “MVME 167-34B” on an SNN
system, and “MVME 177-005” on an SNN-E system.
The types of LEDs and their locations are shown in Figure 3-3. The LEDs
show the following conditions:
• FAIL This red LED lights when a hardware failure has occurred on
the CPU card. The LED also lights for a 7- to 10-minute duration when
the card’s on-board diagnostics is enabled during bootup.
• STAT/STATUS This yellow LED lights continuously, indicating a
halt condition from the card processor.
• RUN This green LED lights almost continuously but flickers when
the system processor has stopped.
• SCON This green LED lights continuously when the card is the
VMEbus system controller.
• LAN This green LED flickers continuously when there is an active
LAN communication.
• +12V This green LED lights continuously when the card is supplying
+12V LAN power to the transceiver interface.
• SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) Heavy communication
between devices is indicated by a solid light, while a flickering light
indicates less data movement.
• VME This green LED lights when the card is accessing or being
accessed by the VMEbus.
